For the past 15 years the Rotary Club of Mareeba has conducted a Junior Speaking Competition ‘Youth Speaks’ for the students of Year 6 and 7 from schools throughout the area.

St Thomas’s has experienced great success in past competitions and in 2103, our school was represented by Zoe Quintieri and Sam Daniell. Both students presented interesting speeches that engaged the large audience gathered at Mareeba RSL Club for this annual community event.
In what proved to be a close competition, Sam Daniell was named the winner of the 2013 Rotary Youth Speaks Competition with his speech about the correct use of the English language. Both students deserve to be commended on their preparation and dedication, and on their outstanding communication skills.
