The core values of St Thomas’ School are those that are foundational to the Gospel. Children are encouraged to live those values in their everyday relationships with fellow students, staff, parents and the broader community. The school Mission focuses on each child being encouraged and challenged to achieve his/her best. The education we offer at St Thomas’ is a holistic one that focuses not only on the academic basics of a good education, but also has a spiritual and personal focus and a particular emphasis on social and emotional wellbeing. Our high quality and reflective teaching practices, together with the nurturing of school-wide positive relationships are qualities that are highly valued by our families.
To support this, a range of extra curricular activities are offered such as a school band, performing arts, chess, coding, Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, public speaking and a range of sports. Sporting opportunities are made available for students such as rugby league, cricket and netball along with in-class physical education. Performing Arts is taught from Prep to Year 6 and instrumental music instruction is available for students in a wide range of instruments.
The school is also very well resourced in Information and Communication Technology. ICT is integrated into teaching and learning and each classroom has an interactive whiteboard. Students also have access to laptops and other mobile electronic devices. The new library provides many new 21st century teaching and learning opportunities for the school community.
Parent and grandparent involvement is encouraged, realising that when all parties associated with a child’s education work together, there is a greater chance of overall success for the child.
We encourage self-discipline and offer an environment in which students can learn without disruption. In turn, students are required to maintain high standards of behaviour and to respect the rights of others. Students, parents and teachers have the right to a safe, orderly school environment where students can grow academically, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually in order to learn.
Our school has the services of a school counsellor and learning support teacher to support student learning and social emotional development.
Parent involvement at St Thomas’ is highly valued and very welcome, as parent support is a key indicator in student learning.
At St Thomas’, we welcome all who seek to share in our community and the values which make us who we are. Join us! Enquires are always welcome and encouraged.
